Captive State showcases photographic evidence of the suffering that has been taking place in Mogadishu, where one hundred and fifty thousand have starved to death. Nahr (who studied photography at Ryerson and graduated in 2008) and Perry also returned to the area last year to report on the improvements.
Photographer Nahr visited southern Somalia with TIME Africa Bureau Chief, Alex Perry, to document the famine, exacerbated by civil war and the blockage of aid through American anti-terror policy.
Dominic Nahr’s most recent exhibition at OBC, Fracture: South Sudan’s Independence ran from October 12 – November 10, 2012. The same body of work was also featured at the OBC booth at the Toronto International Art Fair: Focus Asia. To see these works visit his OBC artist page here.
