A hearty congratulations is extended to Public Studio‘s Elle Flanders and Tamira Sawatzky for being honoured with the 2013 Artist Prize at last night’s Toronto Friends of the Visual Arts Award ceremony. With such outstanding production in film, photography, and installation-based practices, Public Studio is an excellent and worthy choice!
The last week of April saw the opening reception of Arbitrating Places, a selection of works by O’Born Contemporary artists. The evening was hosted by 333 Bay St.’s 9th floor arbitration offices and OBC artists Kate McQuillen and Public Studio proudly represented the gallery’s roster, along with members of the gallery family! Thank you to Arbitration Place for welcome us into your work space. For details of the work included in the show, please click here.
OBC artists Public Studio‘s exhibition, Road Shots, was recently reviewed by Artsync‘s Heather White. Read the review, with a particularly acute articulation of the materiality of the artists’ newest body of work, here.
Road Shots will be on our walls until Saturday, April 21; if you haven’t visited this exhibition yet, be sure to catch it before it ends.
The in–gallery conversation on March 17 with Public Studio (Elle Flanders & Tamira Sawatzky) and Emelie Chhangur, Assistant Director and Curator of the Art Gallery of York University, was documented and is now available online. Watch the conversation above, and be sure to catch Public Studio’s solo exhibition Road Shots before it closes on April 21st.
