OBC intervenes into the corporate context with Arbitrating Places!!

The last week of April saw the opening reception of Arbitrating Places, a selection of works by O’Born Contemporary artists. The evening was hosted by 333 Bay St.’s 9th floor arbitration offices and OBC artists Kate McQuillen and Public Studio proudly represented the gallery’s roster, along with members of the gallery family! Dominic Nahr World Press Photo 3rd Prize Singles, 2013

In addition to the POYi Award of Excellence, 2013, OBC photojournalist Dominic Nahr has been honoured with General News, 3rd Prize by World Press Photo for his photo from his series Fracture: South Sudan’s Independence, which was on view at OBC in September of 2012 (view exhibition here). The New Yorker on South Sudan: Audio Slide Show featuring Dominic Nahr

OBC artist and photojournalist Dominic Nahr‘s photographs from South Sudan have been included in an audio slideshow posted on The New Yorker earlier this week on South Sudan’s first year of independence. See the images and hear Jon Lee Anderson’s description of the landscape of the new country here.
Dominic Nahr’s photographs from South Sudan will be exhibited at his third solo exhibition Fracture at O’Born Contemporary from October 12 – November 10, 2012. Find more information about this exhibition on the exhibition page.
Boreal Collective’s “The Present” Opens Tomorrow at Oz Studios

Photojournalist collective Boreal Collective who we’ve had our eyes on for a while is opening their most recent group exhibition, The Present, at Oz Studios (just across the street!) tomorrow. The exhibition features photojournalist work from OBC artist Dominic Nahr alongside Christopher Wahl, Tony Fouhse, Jordan Roberts, Andrew Williamson, Aaron Vincent Elkaim, Eamon MacMahon, John Densky, Daniel Neuhaus, Josh McDonald, Alexi Hobbs, Brett Gundlock, Chloe Ellingson, Edward Terry, Eugen Sakhenko, Gullaume Simoneau, Chris Dale, Ryan Walker, Ian Willms, and Johan Hallberg Campbell.
