OBC artist and photojournalist Dominic Nahr was recently awarded the 2011 Pictures of the Year International Award of Excellence for an image from his ongoing work in Somalia, currently suffering from drought and famine. View the image and more information on this page.

Dominic is the second OBC artist to receive a POYi award this year; congratulations to both him and Ed Ou for their well deserved recognition!

OBC artist and New York Times contract photojournalist Ed Ou was selected as a finalist for the 2011 Pictures of the Year International (POYi). POYi is a prestigious photographic institution that began as a contest in 1944. The contest has grown and transformed, and is now an international program offering auxiliary workshops and seminars. Alex Fischer, whose exhibition Beyond The Fall is attracting quite a bit of attention in the city since it opened February 3rd, was interviewed by Toronto Standard’s Jessica Carroll last week in his studio.
